With this being our 10th year we wanted it to be a big deal. The last couple years have been great, but it just wasn’t the same, so we wanted to get back to what we think the BBQ should be. To do this we've deiced to go back to our roots and take a step backwards from what we've done the last two years. There's a ton of cool car shows around now and they all have basically the same format. We don't need to try and emulate them. At the heart of it, AstroMonkey has always been just a big out doors party. It's about local bands and local people. It's about getting together to have fun and doing it on the cheap without help from corporate sponsors and the like. With the help of a good friend, who's going to be taking over some of the responsibility for me this year, we've managed to rent the same park where we had BBQ 5 & 6. For those of you who weren't there, Saint Michael's park in Mont Claire PA has a huge pavilion, tons of parking, and acres of grass. Standing around in a bar or in a gravel parking lot never felt like a BBQ to me. The plan this year is to run it much like we did back in 2005 - 2007. We're going to ask for a small donation at the door in hopes of breaking even on the costs. Beyond that it will be free beer and free food all day or at least until it's all gone. It's still really early on in the planning stages so I don't have a lot of details for you at the moment, but we do have a lot planned for this year. So stay tuned for more details.
As many of you know, after the last server upgrade I disabled FTP access and the web based file manager stopped working. I've finally got around to setting up a new file manager. Give it a try and let me know if you have any trouble.
I had to move AstroMonkey's server image to a new storage server last night. Sorry everything was down for the evening.

AstroMonkey IX is on and is again being graciously hosted by the Railroad St. Bar & Grill in Limerick, PA on the last Saturday in June (6/27/2009). As always we'll be having plenty of cool bands and our no frills, no rules, no prizes car show. It's all about real people's real rides not how much money you spent on it. All Rods, Custom, Jalopies, and Cycles are welcome. Get all the details at: http://www.myspace.com/astromonkeybbq

First off, a lot of what I read about this movie was whining sacks of shit talking about how the movie sucked because the plot wasn't original. Hey, no shit, did you think they were trying to hide that fact? I could have told you the full plot after watching the first trailer.
This movie was not about a new and interesting plot.
This movie was about creating a visually astounding film, and they fucking succeeded! The sheer level of detail from the design of the Navi through their entire flora and fauna structure was beautiful. The consistency of design and the thought put into every detail was astounding to me. I think they must have worked with the designers and theorists behind the discovery show Alien Planet because ... Initial Reaction Star Wars Clone Wars animated Posted by: invisiblerabbit
I'm confused, some of the action is pretty cool and entertaining. However, the intro is extremely like the original Starship Troopers intro, "Would you like to know more?" It's definitely action packed and people are constantly gettin killed, including guys getting spaced.
The biggest irritant I have is the stupid ass dialogue they give the battle droids. It's like they are trying to rape my brain it's so damn bad. Still give it a shot, the animation is still bizarre, but give it a shot. ... Click Here For More
Initial reaction to Zombieland Posted by: Herr Silberrückseite
This was an excellent and thoroughly entertaining movie. If Shaun of the Dead was a great parody of the zombie epidemic movie, Zombieland is a great parody of the apocalyptic zombie pandemic movie.
It's kind of a road trip movie that happens to have a zombie apocalypse in it. Without giving too much away: 1. Woody Harrelson is now my hero. 2. Look for a surprise cameo in there that is damn funny 3. This movie will make you want a twinkie. 4. The 32 rules for surviving Zombieland are a hoot.
The only complaint I actually had about the movie is to wonder where people, wearing jeans and a jacket, are keeping all these shotgun shells? Seriously, some characters will fire dozens of times with no discernable hiding place for more ... Click Here For More
